Mouth/Throat Local treatment of oropharyngeal infection Adult: As lozenges: 4-10 mg/day. Topical/Cutaneous Skin infections Adult: Apply a solution of 1/1000 on the skin lesions. |
Warnings / Precautions |
Do not instil into the nasal cavities or into closed body cavities. |
Adverse Reactions |
Liver and kidney damage; prolonged loss of smell (after nasal spray or instillation). Potentially Fatal: Stevens-Johnson syndrome. |
Mechanism of Actions |
Tyrothricin is active in vitro against gram-positive bacteria. It is used alone or in conjunction with other antibacterials in the treatment of local infections mainly of the skin and mouth. It is too toxic to be used in systemic admin. |
