Indications |
Ophthalmic Ocular hypertension, Open-angle glaucoma Adult: As hydrochloride: Instil 1 drop of 0.1% soln in the eye/s every 12 hr. |
Contraindications |
Hypersensitivity. Patients with narrow angles, since any pupillary dilatation may cause an attack of angle-closure glaucoma. |
Warnings / Precautions |
Aphakic patients; lactation. |
Adverse Reactions |
Ocular hyperaemia, burning, stinging, irritation, follicular conjunctivitis, mydriasis, allergic reactions, adrenochrome deposits in the conjunctiva and cornea, headache, browache and eye pain. Very rarely, tachycardia and hypertension may occur. Potentially Fatal: Generally well tolerated. Side effects fewer when compared to epinephrine drops. |

Mechanism of Actions |
Dipivefrine is a prodrug of adrenaline. It reduces IOP by decreasing aqueous production and by enhancing outflow. |
