Macrolide Antibiotics: May decrease the metabolism of Calcium Channel Blockers. |
Management |
Consider using a noninteracting macrolide. Monitor for increased therapeutic effects of calcium channel blockers if an interacting macrolide antibiotic is initiated, or decreased effects if a macrolide is discontinued. Exceptions: Azithromycin; Azithromycin (Systemic); Fidaxomicin (Systemic); Spiramycin. |
