Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate: Laxatives may enhance the adverse/toxic effect of Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate. More specifically, concomitant use of calcium polystyrene sulfonate with magnesium-containing laxatives may result in metabolic alkalosis or with sorbitol may result in intestinal necrosis. |
Management |
Avoid concomitant use of calcium polystyrene sulfonate (rectal or oral) and magnesium-containing laxatives or sorbitol. |
