Indications |
Oral Acute migraine attacks Adult: As mucate: 130 mg at the onset of an attack, then 65 mg hrly thereafter as necessary. Max dose: 325 mg in 12 hr. Max Dosage: 325 mg in a 12-hr period. |
Contraindications |
Porphyria; severe hypertension; severe renal and hepatic impairment; organic heart disease. |
Warnings / Precautions |
CV diseases; hyperthyroidism; DM; pregnancy, lactation; angle-closure glaucoma. |
Adverse Reactions |
Dizziness, circulatory disturbances, rash, haematological disorders. |
Drug Interactions |
May antagonise hypotensive effects of adrenergic neurone blockers. Increased risk of hypertension with doxapram, oxytocin. Increased risk of ergotism with ergotamine and methysergide. Potentially Fatal: Increased risk of hypertensive crisis with MAOIs, moclobemide. Increased risk of toxicity (severe hypertension) with bromocriptine. Isometheptene is an indirect-acting sympathomimetic and acts as a vasoconstrictor. |
