Celiprolol

Indications
 Oral
Hypertension, Angina pectoris
Adult: 200-400 mg once daily.
CrCl (ml/min)Dosage Recommendation
15-40100-200 mg daily.
<15Avoid.


Special Populations: Renal impairment: CrCl: 15-40 mL/min: ½ the usual dose; <15 mL/min: Do not administer celiprolol.
Contraindications
 Hypersensitivity, sinus bradycardia, >1st degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, uncompensated heart failure, hypotensive patients. Pregnancy (2nd and 3rd trimesters).
Warnings / Precautions
 Asthma. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
 Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea; CHF, AV nodal block and bradycardia, palpitations; headache, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia; Raynaud's phenomenon; orthostatic hypotension; bronchial obstruction; tremor, rash, muscle cramps; impotence.
Drug Interactions
 May decrease the clearance of theophylline.

Lab Interactions
 Increases thyroid function test.
Mechanism of Actions
 Celiprolol is cardioselective, β-1 antagonist with weak α2-receptor blocking activity. It exhibits an intrinsic sympathomimetic activity.
Absorption: Absorbed from the GIT (oral).
Distribution: Crosses the placenta.
Metabolism: Minimal metabolism.
Excretion: Via urine and faeces (as unchanged); 5-6 hrs (elimination half-life).
Administration
 Should be taken on an empty stomach. (Take at least ½ hr before or 2 hr after meals.)

 Oral: Store below 25°C.

 C07AB08 - celiprolol ; Belongs to the class of selective beta-blocking agents. Used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
