Indications |
Oral Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease Adult: Used in combination with antacid or histamine H2-receptor antagonist. Each tablet contains alginic acid 200 mg, dried aluminium hyroxide 80 mg, magnesium trisilicate 40 mg and sodium bicarbonate 70 mg: 1-2 tablets 4 times daily. Incompatibility: Incompatible with acridine derivatives, methylrosanilinium chloride, phenylmercuric acetate and nitrate, calcium salts, alcohol in concentrations >5% and heavy metals. |
Mechanism of Actions |
Alginic acid is used in combination with an antacid or histamine H2-antagonist in the management of gastro-esophageal reflux disease. It reacts with gastric acid to form a viscous gel which acts as a mechanical barrier to reduce reflux. |
