Interacting Drugs
Ketorolac (systemic)
vs
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
Security Level
Moderate, Consider therapy modification
Mechanism
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors: May enhance the antiplatelet effect of NSAID (Nonselective). NSAID (Nonselective) may diminish the therapeutic effect of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors.
Management
Consider using alternative analgesics, when appropriate, and/or addition of an gastroprotective agent. Monitor patients closely for signs/symptoms of bleeding, and for evidence of diminished SSRI effectiveness with concurrent use.
