Oral Painful muscle spasm associated with musculoskeletal conditions Adult: 1.5-3 g daily in divided doses. Topical/Cutaneous Painful muscle spasm associated with musculoskeletal conditions Adult: Apply with rubefacient 3-4 times daily. |
Contraindications |
Acute porphyria. |
Warnings / Precautions |
May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. |
Adverse Reactions |
Lassitude, drowsiness, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. Hypersensitivity reactions. |
Overdose Reactions |
Overdosage may produce visual disturbances, motor incoordination, hypotonia, hypotension and respiratory paralysis. Treatment is supportive. |
Drug Interactions |
Additive CNS effects with CNS depressants e.g. barbiturates, alcohol, opioids. See Below for More mephenesin Drug Interactions |

Mephenesin is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Duration: Short duration of action. |
